Raccoon (Procyon lotor) in Central Park, New York City, USA, March 2018

We were so lucky to see a raccoon in the daytime! :-) He was moving very slowly, like he would just wake up ;) Interestingly, raccoons do not hibernate in winter, but rather sleep for some time, up to a month, and then wake up to find some food, in biology this is known as torpor.
